Seemingly random hostname changes

Howdy all!

I have recently found a problem I have never encountered before. My
system seems to be truncating my hostname at aparently random intervals.
I run RedHat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-31), Ximian Gnome 1.4 with Enlightenment.
Has anyone else encountered this? My normal hostname is in the form of
MyComputer.Domain.com but becomes simply MyComputer after a while.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have more info...an example of this happening. How do you know the hostname is different.. i.e. - .is it showing up different in a certain program?

I always have a console window open. When I can no longer run any programs that have a window, I run the `hostname` command to see what my hostname is, it just shows as MyComputer, when I know that it is set to MyComputer.Domain.com during startup. I then can `sudo hostname MyComputer.Domain.com` to change it back. I have had this problem long enough that I have a script to run that command.

Thanks for your help!
