seeking advice -- howto discover why net access slows down at times
My home network mostly works fine. However, at times, browsing slows to a crawl. However, when I speed test using the Chromium Browser speed tool, the numbers look reasonable based on what I'm paying for.
How do I discover why through-put turns to sluggish mud from time to time?
During the day, it is one other LAN user and myself. I don't think I have downloads and streaming and that sort of traffic going on at a level that would trash my performance.
Like many folks, my home has a gateway/router connected to the ISP -- AT&T U-Verse. I connect a LAN port to my N-type wifi access point router. I connect one giga-bit LAN port to giga-bit switches and to the various drops around the rooms.
I understand that U-verse is an ADSL star rather than the buss of the cable-modem folks. I was used to random slow-down on rainy days, evenings, and weekends when I was a cable modem user.
Thanks in advance,
