Seeing windows workgroups/ibook
Hey there. I have a kewl setup (i think)
i have a swappable hd that i take to school and use for home.
At school i connect to the schools servers to get on the internet and stuff. I started getting interest in networking that stuff together. Before, it automatically set up my internet connection. But i couldn't print.. figured out how to do that by sending to the IP of the printer, yay for me. Now i want to be able to get on the network.. They give us network spaces or network drives called z drive. Basically every student get 7 gigs of space on the network. So.. i set up Samba and downloaded webmin. I can get it so that my linux box is available in the workgroups. How do i access the windows workgroups from linux (RH 8.0 sorry.)? I've heard if your firewall is set to high you can't see windows workgroups. But i don't even know how to attempt to see them.
When i'm at home:
i have put SAME linux hd in my personl computer. I have dial up and once again through the "wonderful" handling of hardware RH see's my modem and my nic card. I have an Ibook attached via a crossover. I can ping back and forth between the mac and pc and i can use ftp to send /recieve.
2 questions:
What about internet connection sharing? How do i set it up. (Linux being the server)
What about samba? Pretty much the same question as with the school comp, but: How do i acces the mac files from linux?
THANX ALOT!
