Not sure what you mean by Secondary IP address.

Also, to permenantly assign an IP address to your interface, you need to find your ifconfig statement in your init scripts, or add a line yourself, should look something like this:

ifconfig <interface> <IP Address> netmask <netmask>

By secondary, do you mean by way of sub-interfaces of eth0?

ifconfig eth0.1 <ip address> etc, works for me, so I guess your init scripts need an extra line to make it permanent.

subinterfaces

What baldy posted is probably what you want to do. I didn't understand whatcha meant. Also, you may want to add a netmask.

i.e. ifconfig eth0.1 <secondary ip> netmask <netmask>

I would Like to configure a secondary IP address on my interface Eth0, This is for configuring virtualHost within Apache.. To run several Web sites.
When I un the command --> ifconfig eth0.1 address mask
it returns interface unknown
