I've got a bit of a problem with a group project that we're currently doing at school. If any of this falls outside the scope of this forum, I apologize. Our current setup looks a bit like this:
- Windows 2000 Server - Running DHCP, and DNS
- Netware Server - Used for workstation logins.
- Linux Server - Running Apache, and Sendmail. The linux server is also connected to several linux workstations connected on a separate subnet, via a 2nd NIC.
For the most part, we have our network setup. I am having difficulty however, configuring the Linux Server. One of the requirements of the project, is to have the workstations that are "behind" the Linux Server pull down IP addresses from the Windows 2000 DHCP server. When we asked our instructor about this, he told us we must use our own resources, and the internet to solve this problem so I have no help there. So far we've decided, that since the linux workstations are to be on their own private network using a separate subnet, that we may need to create an additional DHCP scope on the Windows 2000 Server. What we do not know, is how to get the workstations to use this scope, whether NAT will be involved, etc.
Hopefully with this information someone here can at least point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any help.
