scanning for virus before saving in a linux server
 

hi,

in a windows server, a common setup requires a virus scan to a file that needs to be saved on a server of some sort for security. that is for a windows server assuming that the origin of the file is naturaly... a windows os too :D

now, if a windows pc connects to a linux server, is there a way for the linux os to determine whether the file to be saved is virus free or not?

i think this is somehow a critical part since there is no absolute control over the user that saves his/her file on the server. the "windows virus" may or perhaps won't really have an effect in the linux server, but in due time, that user may be in trouble, right? so how can the linux server do the virus scan before saving?

There is a linux version of Server Protect that will block the transmission of windows viruses. I don't know if you are in a commercial setting. I think the price may be around the $600 for the NT version.

yes, that will take place in a production environment consisting of 150,000+ users.

They may have a personal linux version also.
