I currently use Sprint DSL and Earthlink to access the internet. When I got the modem and stuff, I also got a CD with install junk on it. I disregarded that and discovered I could just ssh or telnet into the modem to set it up. (Although I guess I may have used that CD to set up my username and password via windows.)
Anyway, I am about to move up into SBC country near Dallas and my only option will be SBC Yahoo DSL. Does anybody now if they are still using the SpeedStream modem and can you telnet into it to configure it in your network.
I won't be able to use my current modem. It will stay here.
Hi sorry I don't have an answer for you but I was wondering how did you telnet into the modem? I also use earthlink and thought heck I should try that and see what happens. So I did but couldn't get pass the pass would, I used my earthlink user name and password but that didn't work. Can you let me know? Thanks
Hi and thanks for the info. I tried but that didn't work for me I'll try earthlink, I didn't know one could telnet the modem I always did the old http://#.#.#.# thing, that's good advice though.
Hey thanks. I still have a 5260 from when I had DSL with Southwestern Bell in St. Louis. It wasn't related to Yahoo at the time.
I don't recall telneting in to it though. I'll google it up and see what I can find.
