saving incoming serial data to a file

I have a wireless LAN and I am using a lantronix device to send serial data to the LAN. the lantronix device will not send the data to a file, but it will let me direct it to a specific machine and port. is there a way to "listen" for incoming data on this port and save it to a file?

tcpdump, ngrep, ethereal... these are apps that should be able to accomplish the task.
