SAN Storage Not allowing SLES 9 to boot.

Hello alll,

I am currently running a full fiber-fabric IBM SAN and I am having an issue on my SLES 9 server. The HBA module loads correctly, the LUN assigned to the host is seen properly, but when the module for the internal RAID (ServRaid 6i) loads, both the internal RAID array and the SAN storage are seen as one device. Consequently, the file system check fails, and it mounts / as read only.

The module being used is qla2300, the HBA's themselved are Qlogic 2312's. No parameters other than the suspendcount and retrycount parms specific to the storage server have been loaded.

Any help to this newbie would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If it were me, the first thing I'd do is call IBM support. If you really don't want to do that, you can try 2 things. Firstly, you can boot into the IBM ServRaid BIOS and configure what disks are part of the RAID configuration. You can also boot directly of the IBM ServRAID CD that came with your RAID card. If you don't have one, you can download and ISO image from the IBM support site.
