has anyone got any success with a samsung SCM-140 running on the USB port working on redhat? I'm able to get the CDCEther and acm modules loaded on startup but have problems getting the modem recognised as an eth interface. ifconfig -a only lists my
built-in NIC (a sis900). I can get the modem to work thru the ethernet RJ45 connector but I need that port free as it hooks into my internal LAN. Adding another NIC to use the modem is impossible as the machine's a laptop so I have to use the USB
connector. I've googled the web but couldnt really find anything useful. I'm currently using RH9. Thanks for any help.

It should be plug and play if you're using the usb version. hotplug should automatically load the usbnet module which will enable the eth* interface. Then run dhclient on the interface and your IP/router/DNS should be automatically configured.
