Samba + WindowsXP: Access Denied even after successful connection...

Hello,

I have just setup a Samba share on Fedora Core 1. Everything seems to work fine and I can intially connect without a problem. However, after a period of time (I have not tested to see exactly how long...maybe 15+ minutes) when I try to do anything, I get an "Access Denied" error while using Windows XP. I have another (older) server with Samba and do not have any problems there...any suggestions?

Thanks!

Every 12 minutes (or so) there is a network "election" to see who is the browse master..

In the Samba server, make the OS level 99.
This ensures it always wins the elections...

Thanks, I'll try that out. I noticed today that it may not be a certain a certain time period but right after I edited and saved a file I got the error. Hopefully the change you suggested will work ;)

ok, that's a bit different..

do testparm to test the samba config file..

Everything looked fine when I ran that...

It seems that your original suggestion did the trick. I have not received the access denied error since then.

Thanks for your help!
