samba swat question

I have Samba running on my computer and I'm using SWAT to configure the smb.conf file. I'm having trouble getting my win2k machine to connect to the linux machine. In network neightborhood I see the linux box but when I click it I get a not accessable message. What I'm looking to do is share out the /home/user directory so I can save files to it. I also want a different directory with mp3s to be readable only. How would I do this? I've read the man pages and SWAT is awesome but I'm not 100% sure what to do in the settings.

Have you enable clear text passwords on the Win2K side, or enabled encrypted passwords on the Samba side (you'll need to use smbpasswd to add users to the samba password file)?? There are good docs about this on the Samba download sites.

cheers

file does not exist

When I did the smbpasswd it said file does not exist. It then created file but said failed to find entry failed to change password.
Nevermind I got it now. Is there a way to see the password file? Or what its name is?
