First of all, make sure that the workgroup is set to the same both on Linux and Windows. (it should be the first uncommented line in smb.conf, something like "workgroup = MDKGROUP" 4 MDK10.0). Next, your eth adapter must have the same ip-class as the win boxes, e.g. workstation 1 (windows): 192.168.0.13 and your linux 192.168.0.12. The workgroup is the only thing I need to edit in my default smb.conf file. (I wish I had mine handy)

It's funny, because I can see all three winxp pro comps on network

if i typ smb:///

workgroup: SPILERAJ

If I go on XP comp, My Network Place -> SPILERAJ -> I also se my Linux Box (Samba Server), but its says that i don't have permmision to access to samba server?

Any idea,

thx for reply

I had this problem and it drove me nuts! If the Linux box firewall is enabled, it will block the Windows box from talking to it. I disabled the firewall on the Linux machine and after that, whala! the 2 machines were able to communicate.

let me know if this works out for you....
