Samba setup - Windows 7 host, CentOS Machine using VirtualBox
I am trying to set up samba in my CentOS virtual machine that is running on a Windows 7 host. I have found a tutorial in the How-Tos on this site but I'm not sure if they are exact and I'm paranoid about messing something up. The link to the tutorial is below. Is there anything that I should do different or anything that I should be aware of? Also, once this is set up, how do I transfer files between the two machines? Please note: I am very inexperienced in the IT field.
Thank you very much in advance!
Looks like that tutorial thread is pretty old, why don't you run through the "By-Example" tutorial on www.samba.org? It seems pretty straightforward and I got my virtual samba server working with it...
You might also want to check out this guy's blog http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy...etworking.aspx
BTW, why is the thread marked [SOLVED]? is it actually solved?
No it isn't actually solved already. I just read the "what is, and what is not, a networking problem" and I felt as if this didn't fit the criteria to be in this forum; hence the "solved" annotation.
Beside that, thank you for your help! I'll try and use that tutorial and I'll keep you posted on the status!
p.s. I moved this post to the "server" forum as the thread that I mentioned earlier directed me to that. So, you can still post on that one as well! Thanks again!
