Samba PDC Windows XP

Hi,

i'm trying to set up samba server to act as a fileserver. Currently i have a Win2K server BUT i really would like to give Linux a try. I'm experienced on windows and an absolute newbie on Linux but managed to FINALLY install mandrake 9.0

I can't find a samba.conf i can use. there is too much half configs around and nothing works (at least not at this side). could someone help me and give me a script.

i need to login an XP pc and a win2K pc. both with their own home directories and two shared directories.

do i need to change permissions on those folders?

thanks in advance,

Mischa

These links have helped a lot of people set up Samba PDC's.

ok done that, i've made a config file

i also added
add user script = /usr/bin/useradd -d /dev/null -g 100 -s /bin/false -M %u
to avoid making manual machine trust accounts

when i try to log in from the windows xp pc i get an error:
can't find network path

Bear in mind that Windows XP needs some additonal work in order to add it to a Samba domain.

Please check the section re: client configuration in the tutorials.

One more thing. Make sure that you have set your firewall to see eth0 as a trusted device.
