Samba PDC Problem or LDAP

Hello!

I just set up a Samba PDC and found the following message:

"There is already a domain master browser at IP xx.xx.xx.xx"

First Question:
============

Does that mean that there is a master PDC at that IP and can i just make that pc not to think that he is a PDC ?

Second Question:
==============

What about LDAP ? Is that an alternativ to a samba PDC ?

Exactly that, there is a PDC at that address and WinNT domains only support a single PDC. You'll either need to stop Samba trying to become a PDC or you'll need to demote your current PDC to a BDC.

Nope, LDAP is simply a directory where you can store lots of different information about things (users, systems, etc, etc). You can store user info like passwords in an LDAP server which can then be used by Samba and other systems instead of flat password files but this doesn't replace Samba in any way.

cheers

If you are interrested, check out http://idealx.samba.org for information on storing samba information inside of LDAP.
