Samba PDC error joining domain

Heya,
I ve reconfigured a domain.
The smb.conf file is right, I have recycled it from a previous installation.

I have created all the necessary folders and set permissions correctly.

I have added the root user with
smbpasswd -P root

I have added the machine name to passwd with the $ at the end and passed it to smb after locking the password.

However once I try to net join
"Failed to open /etc/samba/secrets.tdb"
"error storing domain sid for DOMAIN"
"Unable to join domain DOMAIN"

The secrets.tdb file is there and root has the proper permissions to access & write to it...
I think its a SeLinux issue, but I m not sure how to solve it.
Any takers?
Thanks
Azh
