Up until recently samba on my Kubuntu 6.06 box worked flawlessly, as server as well as client but recently things went wrong. I dont know the cause but the problem consists of two things:

First of all wenn I mount a share containing files or folders only the first letter of each file/folder is shown. I use smb4k to do this and wenn konqueror opens I doesnt show anything at all, only an empty folder. In the console I can see the contents of the share but with files only having the first letter of their names, and properties "?--------- ? ? ? ? ? Y" wenn I "ls -l". I do not know which logs to check or where to begin, so please point me in the right direction.

My second problem is that smb4k doesnt show the workgroup my computer is part of. This problem could be caused by some other computer on the network taking over the role as browse master, but the problem has been there for quite a while. This is of course anoying and though it is not the main problem I thought things might be connected.

Hope someone has some experience with this or knows where I should start looking for a solution
