Samba nmbd/smbd starting by client request to fileserver
I'm using Samba for a file server. I don't have rc.samba set with execute permissions because I don't want it on all the time. I only want to it running when I want to, which I usually do by starting nmbd and smbd manually on the fileserver. However, I've noticed that if I try to access the fileserver through Windows without nmbd and smbd running, nmbd and smbd are automatically started on the fileserver. For security/performance reasons, I don't want Samba running all the time. Anyone know what I can do?
