Samba Logins from XP

OK so I have a Samba server running on a Mandrake 10.0 system. I have several Win XP Home users a XP Pro, and an ME user. I have users and passwords set in Samba with full rights to two shared folders on the MDK system. It seems that all the Windoze systems will log into the shared folders at their whim. I can sometimes use a Net use command to get connected, sometimes it works from mapping a network drive. Can someone point me to a SOLID way to get this to work?

when does this not work? the things you're describing all refer to the same method( as best I can tell)

It is maddening. I can use Net use to connect then I can use it for awhile, next day (without booting) it will have lost its connection to the folder. I try to reconnect or reboot and then use net connect and I get either a user/password error, of I will get an error stating there can only be one connection at a time. Even if I disconnect the mapped drive and retry, I get errors. It seems to not have much consistancy.
