samba issue

Hi i am still a newbie experimenting with different flavors. I have just chucked PC Linux in flavor of Slackware 12. I am trying to connect to my windows machine. My Slackware currently sees my windows share but I thought samba is bi directional and my windows machine does not see my windows shares. When trying to browse the Slackware from my windows I get:

Unity ( name of my workgroup ) is not accessible. The network path was not found.

The name of my workgroup is: UNITY
The name of Slackware host is: zorro
The name of windows host is: che
My windows version is: Windows 2000 SP 4
My Slackware ip: 192.168.0.3
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Windows: 192.168.0.2
DNS: 87.232.1.40, 87.232.1.41

I read somewhere on this site that it might be a better idea to use NFS instead of samba. Would anybody be able to verify that? Since I did notice when using PC Linux to listen to BBC4 there was delay when caching streaming media. Or am i missing the point and confusing WAN and LAN issues.? Thanks in advance

you have forgotten to include your windows machine 192.168.0.2

HTH.

basically NFS is a native unix file sharing tool - windows simply doesnt know what it is - except by using SAMBA.

cheers
