Samba in SuSE 8.0?

This is the first I ever run SuSE...

I noticed the samba-client is installed by default, but not the samba-common I usally see. I have tried to access windows shares in Konq (smb:/name-of-pc/name-of-share) as I've done in the past with other distros with no luck. I assume I need this samba-common package to interact with the I/O slaves in Konq and start samba running at boot.

I also tried komba, but it doesn't seem to find any shares at all without samba running. I even gave the lisa/reslisa a try, but again no luck. How do you start that service?

SuSE 8.0 does not seem to be configured out-of-the-box to network with any Windows clients.

Lisa in Suse

to start Lisa from a terminal (as su), type rclisa start or lisa start then enter. You can now brows the lan:/ .
I have not gotten lisa to load at boot. I've tried the gui> control panle> internet & network> lisa wizard, but have not gotten that to work. I've also tried the old and new ways of editing start files and creating symbolic links, but still no lisa upon boot..

I will let you know if I resolve this.

p.s., to make sure you have everything needed for lisa, start yast and sellect lisa from the KDE section and have yast check dependencies.

Landis.
