samba help

Hi All,

I recently installed the latest version of samba on a system running Redhat 9. After installation, I ran 'testparm /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf' and the following errors were returned.

ERROR: lock directory /var/cache/samba does not exist
ERROR: pid directory /var/run/samba does not exist.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Below is my smb.conf file. It's simple, but should work.

global]
guest account = testuser
encrypt passwords = yes
security = share
wins support = yes
workgroup = workgroup

[public]
path = /home/public
read only = no
writable = yes
guest ok = yes

In global meta-service

add
Quote:
lock directory = /var/run/samba/locks
pid directory = /var/run
or whatever directory you want. Basically samba needs some directory to place lock files & pids. So you should create those or any directories & then refrence them in your smb.conf as mentioned above.

Thats it.
