i'm looking for a how-to on how to make a samba file server in a windows domain.
what i want to do is setup a fedora core 4 box running samba and make samba shares on it and set permissions on the shares for windows users.
for exampe
Active Directory:
AD user: matthewsp
Fedora core 4:
samba share: /etc/samba/shares/example
: \\samba-file-server\example\
only allow matthewsp to access it
i've already joined the fedora box to the windows domain, i guess i'm just asking about how to set the (active directory) user access to the shares, do i have to edit a pam module, what pam module do i need to edit?
thanks for the reply, but i was looking for a little more guidance than 'look at the samba docs'. perhaps from someone that has done this before and can answer my question rather than just re-direct me to several hundred pages of information on a project as big as samba.
As you can see in this "quick how-to" (found with Google), there is really nothing difficult:
-install samba
-run daemon/service (needed for any server; samba server is no different)
-configure it - easy, via the SWAT web interface.
