Samba Errors Are Filling My Log Files Help :(
Hi, I have fedora core 1 running on a server at work, used as a file server with samba 3.0411. The problem is my log files are filling up with errors. About 10 per second whilst samba is in use. Ive googled but cant find any solutions. This was happening with older version of samba too so ive upgraded to the latest and it hasnt changed. Please help me
small snipet of the errors:

The look of the errors would suggest a bug in the Samba code. Are you using the latest version? If not, an upgrade may fix.
HOWEVER, if Samba isn't causing you any problems (check for corrupt files!), you could either:
1) change the log level in smb.conf [I think that 0 may be off]
2) change the log file in smb.conf to /dev/null
If you think this is too much like putting tape over the "check engine" light in your car (automobile), you could try searching for your error in the Samba mailing list. There's an archive search at < http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&r=1&w=2>
Hope something here is of help.

Thank you for your reply, Yes i am using the latest version, i was seeing the same thing with older version which promted me to get the newest one. I dont seem to be getting corrupted files as a result of this and i seem to get these errors on every file that is accessed.
Here are a few lines from the messages log:
Jun 4 08:49:13 mandrake1 nss_wins[6883]: ERROR: string overflow by 1 (9 - 8) in safe_strcpy [NEW M~W_.DOC]
Jun 4 08:49:13 mandrake1 nss_wins[6883]: [2004/06/04 08:49:13, 0] lib/util_str.c:safe_strcpy_fn(602)

Jun 4 08:49:14 mandrake1 nss_wins[6883]: ERROR: string overflow by 1 (9 - 8) in safe_strcpy [NEW M~W_.DOC]
what is interesting is the errors are reported for everyfile in the directorys i went through not just the oness i opened.
Would really prefer to fix the problem so i can stop worrying about it.

Did you compile this yourself? If so, how old is your glibc?

Whoo! I just put safe_strcpy into Google and got a load of results - looks like you are looking at a documented Samba bug!
If there aren't any Samba users on this forum who have the problem and can advise you of a patch, just:
