Samba and XP Home

I am trying to connect to a system on my network running Windows XP Home. The Linux Box can see the system and the comments, but not the shared folders. However, on another system on the network, running Windows 95, the shared folders can clearly be seen. This leads me to believe that Samba is having some difficulties. While using LinNeiborhood, the log option was enabled. This is the error that was produced:

Error returning browser list: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Does anybody know how to correct this issue?

I believe you have to setup access permissions not only on the WinXP box, but also the Linux box. When using LinNeighborhood to view/access the shares, your Linux box should be sending a username and password (normally that of the user currently logged in) but if you missed the step of setting up samba passwords (using smbpasswd) your Linux box isn't sending the proper credentials.

Check out http://samba.netfirms.com for a complete step by step process of setting up your Linux and Windows boxes to access eachother's shares via Samba and Windows File Sharing.

Thanks for the help lunardreamr... I simply forgot to add my password.

By the way. That is a great site for Samba problem solving.

Thanks...
