Hi,
I have uncovered a problem here. I am configuring a samba server for my dad's research group. I have the samba service started on the RH9 computer and have an account configured to test with. The share works fine with windows xp, but when I try to access it with windows 98, by typing in \\[ipaddress]\username, it says that it cannot find it.
I would appreciate any help someone can give, I know this is more of a windows questions, but since it is dealing with a linux service, I thought I would ask.
Originally posted by david_ross What happens if you just try to access "\\ip.add.re.ss\" - does it work? If not, what error do you get.
When I type "\\ip.add.re.ss\", it just says is not available/it is not accessable by the computer. May I add, I can get the password prompt when I try to get at another windows computer, but it just gives a general "not found/misspelled/not accessable" error in windows 98. It does not though in winxp.
