Samba and win2000

Hi,

My professor is trying to acess through a win2000 machine a printer on a linux(RH9.0) machine using samba. We are able to connect from RH to Win2000 but not the way arround.
Has any one done this? Guesses why it is only one way?

Hi

Iḿ not sure what you trying to do but try this and see if this is what you are looking for. If Win2000 has terminal server installed then in linux use a app called rdesktop this will create a terminal server connection to the windows server.

Another way is to activte and configure ssh then goto this site http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ and download a app called PUTTY which will then allow you to connet to windows with a ssh connection which is far safer than telnet which you could also try.

Not sure this is what you where asking for if not let me know

cheers

aqolvieira: He DOENST WANT to use rdesktop or ssh or whatever.
he WANTS to use RH 9 as a Windows File/Print Server so why do you even bother replying with something like that ?

Anyway...

loke137:

I use Samba with Win2000 and WinXP in my Home Network and everything works just fine.

Look at the security setting of your Samba Server (are you allowing connections from your Win2000 ?)
Look at your firewall. Maybe the RH firewall is blocking your inbound connections to port 139.
If you want some more help, send me full details and config files to folavo@netcabo.pt and I will be very happy to help you.
