Samba and Swat

Me Again! Since upgrading from Redhat 7.2 to 7.3 I cannot get the swat configuration tool to run properly. (It works fine in 7.2). Whenever I try to access Swat I get the following message in the web browser : "An error occured while loading. Connection to Noddy is broken" (noddy is the name of my machine). Although, I can get to swat by going through the swat link in the webmin configuration tool - work that one out! I could edit the file manually and I could use Webmin, but personally I much prefer the swat interface. the swat file is sitting in the /etc/xinetd.d directory and yes I have run the command "chkconfig swat on" and restarted the respective services. I've even tried using different web browsers in the hope that that might do it. I'm stumped now. Has anybody else had the same problem? It's not really a matter of life or death, but I'd just like to know why this is happening.

on one occasion i could not get SWAT to work and this is what I found RedHad looks for SWAT in
/usr/share/samba/swat
when I installed the samba RPM it placed the files in /usr/share/swat
i just moved the files to were they needed to be an everything went well

i did have problems getting swat to work on RH7.3, it worked after some tinkering with PAM configuration. i don't know what exactly it was of--hand, i'll post tomorrow.

I've tried meddling with pam configuration and also shifting the files about - although I don't really wanty to do that sort of thing too often. I can still get into swat through the link in the webmin interface but that is still the only way. Someone said to me that I could download the swat RPM. Would this make a difference?.

make sure localhost is set to 127.0.0.1 also make sure there are no duplicate host names if you have

noddy set to 127.0.0.1 and another
localhost set to 127.0.0.1
that could be why it reports broken

Sorted

Just to let people know I've sorted it. The way I go around is was to reinstall the version of samba that came on the RH7.3 disc's and then install the samba-swat rpm form the 3rd disc. Redhat haven't included swat by default on the 7.3 installation discs - don't know why! Anyway, its sorted, its working and its running like a dream! Subject closed. Thanks to those who replied and gave me some things to try - much appreciated!
