I have a problem that couldn't be solved by hours of browsing forums:

I have an HP DeskJet 600 on a linux machine with WinXP clients. Printing from the linux machine is no problem .. however I can't print from the clients.

The clients are able to detect the printer via Samba and receive the status correctly, however when I tell them to print I only get the feedback, that the printing job could not be cued.

I have already set the /var/spool/cups chmod to 777 ... to no avail tho ...

I hope somebody has ideas on how to solve this problem.

Okay peepz - VERY easy solution:

lp -d%p -o raw /var/spool/samba/%s ; rm -f %s

I was using the wrong printcommand. Now you only have to make sure /var/spool/samba exists and everybody has write access - that's it.

Raw is a work around if you can't find a driver from the manufacture that works or CUPS doesn't support the printer.
