SAMBA 2.2.5 - File locks

Hello,

I am having a hard time with samba on a Red-Hat server.

1- I noticed I was unable to restart de smb deamons /etc/init.d/smb restart
2- while investigating I stumble accross this:
[root@docsux var]# smbstatus

Samba version 2.2.5
Service uid gid pid machine
----------------------------------------------

Locked files:
Pid DenyMode Access R/W Oplock Name
--------------------------------------------------------------
19981 DENY_WRITE 0x20089 RDONLY EXCLUSIVE+BATCH /filename1 Tue Apr 19 02:00:26 2005
20021 DENY_WRITE 0x20089 RDONLY EXCLUSIVE+BATCH /filename2 Tue Apr 19 02:00:26 2005

I have killed every smb process including the nmbd, and I am still unable to start smb back again.

I was wondering if these two files (I changed the names to filename1 & 2) that are locked would have anything to do with this. I looked for the relevant process PID but could not find any. This server does not run many things so it waas pretty easy narrowing down which rocess to kill.

I have been looking every where, you are my only hope ;)

Thanks
Seb

are they files that you have shared, or are they files outside of the share?
