Samba


Hello,
I have just went through a lot just to get samba physically working. Now I can sometimes get my windows 2000 machine to see myserver but when i change something it goes haywire. So far it is a joke. When 2000 does see mysever, i cant access anything, i cant print, my printer is enabled. Please help me My smb.conf#

add "browseable = yes" to your globals, and then turn it off "browseable = no" in any section you don't want publicly available.

I don't see your workgroup setting either

Are noth machines part of the same workgroup or are you running a Win Domain?

Also with Win 2000 make sure you add

encrypt passwords = yes

to the global section (if you want clear text then you'll have to hack the 2000 registry)

Also is it your intention, that your Linux box be a WINS server? (win support = yes) ?

If so, is your 2000 machine pointing at your Linux box for WINS

Give us the context of what your trying to do... maybe we can help a bit further
