RTL-8139 SMC EZ CARD (SMC 1211TX) (more of these stupid issues)

i have an SMC 1211TX, and its recognized as a RealTek 8139 SMC EZ Card on RH8.0. The only way i can activate it is if i set a static IP, but then i cant ping anyone but myself. i set up a whole bunch of hostname, stuff and everything, still nothing. When i select bootp, and click OK, then go back into it to select DHCP, it is greyed out! so i suspect i may not have DHCP properly installed or something... i heard there are 2 DHCP clients, but i dont know how to change them! please, i am a complete newbie to linux, and i've tried tons of different thing. more than is possible to list.

i noticed this when i typed in 'cat /proc/pci':
under my network card, theres this:

Non-fetchable 32 bit memory at 0xed800000 [oxed8000ff]

please! any minor suggestions might be helpful! I've looked in some of the other similar issues, and nothing there seemed to help, but if you think i should try it again, i will.

I'm not sure about the 2 dhcp clients, but you could Google for 'dhcp client' and your distro and see what turns up, it should be a .rpm

Check the driver here -> http://www.smc.com/drivers_downloads/library/rtl8139.c and to see how I found it go here -> http://www.smc.com/index.cfm?sec=Sup...prod=72&site=c

Evidently, it does indeed use the rtl8139 chip driver.
