rsync


i am testing out rsync to backup a directory of mine. i am tring to get it to backup the directory to a tape device on the machine. when i run rsync i keep getting an error telling me that it has to be backed up to a directory. does anybody know if you could use rsync to backup to a tape device?

I would say not. Ever hear of tar?

yeah i have played with tar, just trying out as many backup tools as i can thats all
i am new to linux and am trying as many things as i can to learn more
