RPC: Remote system error
I get the message "RPC: Remote system error, no route to host" when I try to mount a directory from another machine. That is the immediate problem.
The background: I have Redhat Linux 10 installed on two machines which are connected by an ethernet cable (yellow - crossover). There are no other connections to any machines -- no internet connections. This is just a personal project to eventually move from Windows to Linux. I just got thru installing Linux on each of them, and did identical installs. After installing the two systems, I added the following two lines to /etc/hosts on each machine: 192.168.0.43 dell.MSHOME dell 192.168.0.81 main.MSHOME main I activated eth0 on each machine, and can ping each machine from the other machine successfully. After that, I started up NFS on each machine. A look at Services shows that each is running NFS OK. I then mounted a directory on dell from main. That worked OK. I then attempted to mount a directory on main from dell and that is when I got the error message. So I am stuck. Thanks for any suggestions. John (a newbie, but trying hard) |
