Unhappy Routing Table in SLES 9


Hi

Hope someone can help, i got a SLES 9 machine which i need to access from within my network and outside the network. I know linux generates a routing table but when Internal customers connect to the machine using 10.1.0.1 gateway as default, clients from outside connecting using 10.1.0.4 alternate gateway are refused connection. When 10.1.0.4 is made the default address only customers from outside the network can connect and internal customers are refused connection.

Please what can i do to ensure that there can be connectivity from both ends ie from outside and inside. I used Yast to do the routing table configuration and wants the following operational on the server:

Gateway
10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 10.1.0.1
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.1.0.4

I configured a windows machine with the above address and clients were able to connect from both ends.

well, first of all, clients on the outside network shouldn't be able to get in at all. Thats a private class A address, meaning it shouldn't be forwarded on the internet.
I'm not really sure where to start on this one....
whats your subnet mask? i'm assuming 255.0.0.0
why do you have both internal and external address on the same network?
10.1.0.0
your windows client is working because of the paticular order of the routes, reverse them and it won't work.

here's how it should be set up
internal network 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0
external network 10.2.0.0 255.255.0.0

also could be give us more information how how everything is set up. Draw me a picture if you can. Also define external network a little better. The information i posted above is all based on assumption and you know what they say about assuming...
