route command problem


I'm having trouble using the "route" command in Linux.

I have two networks spanning over a dual-homed Linux box, 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.16.0

The route commands already hase these routes listed as
192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
192.168.16.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1

What route command do I need to add to make a client on 192.168.1.0 get to 192.168.16.0 ? As it stands, this default config won't work.


Do I need to add a default gateway or something?

No, you don't need a default route, you just need to enable IP forwarding between the two networks:
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT
