Same error , I changed the configs from the client to:

auto.master:
/home /etc/auto.misc --timeout=60

auto.misc:
* -rw,soft,intr 192.168.100.1:/home/&

and commented out the entries for /home ... restarted nfs and upon logging in from the client the directory is still missing.

I am really sorry, I can't suggest you any more. I told you every thing which I knew. May be entries in the auto mount files are wrong. But the only you can solve your problem is automount.
