rinetd, telnet, and disconnects on FC4

I've googled this about a hundred times, but haven't found anything yet. Possibly because I might not be searching for the correct thing.

I'm using rinetd to redirect telnet sessions from a number of hosts on one subnet to a host on a seperate subnet. The subnets are seperated by a cisco firewall using cisco's vpn to connect over the Internet. The reason I am using rinetd is for security issues, i.e. we want to hide the addresses from one of the subnets.

Here's the problem. After about 25 minutes of inactivity the telnet sessions are being dropped. This doesn't happen if I connect to the host bypassing the rinetd server. So, my assumption is that the rinetd server is somehow dropping the connection. Is there a global setting somewhere in Linux that will automatically kill a TCP connection after a period of inactivity.

Here's the output of uname -r 2.6.14-1.1653_FC4smp

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy
