RH9 <=> FC4 NFS file sharing

Folks,

I am having a problem sharing files over NFS. I have too boxes. One is using RH9 and the other is FC4.

1- I am able to configure (export) and start NFS on the RH9 box
2- I am able to mount RH9 resident file sytem on the FC4 box
3- I can browse the file system from the FC4 box
4- I can NOT copy files into the FC4 box. CP never returns and file remains a 0 byte size.

What am I doing wrong here?

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards,
mkatorgi

I had this problem ages ago but I can't remember exactly why...

things to double check:
/etc/exports - try using ip addresses instead of hostnames?
/etc/hosts.allow - add "portmap: hostname" for each host?
/etc/hosts.deny - make sure you don't have "ALL: ALL" or similar
/etc/hosts.equiv - mine has the entry "localhost"
also check iptables (firewall) configuration
sorry I can't be of more help

Tuttle,
Thanks for the info. Same problem however.

All,
I failed to mention that the RH9 is running on virtual machine (VMWARE Workstation 5) hosted by a windows XP. Is anyone aware of any problems with VMWare and NFS?

Regards,
Maher
