Tried to install a USR 56K pro modem (5610B) on RH 9.0, as it is supposedly supported by the 2.4 kernel. After going through the connection setup, attempted start up results in an error message saying that the modem can't be activated due to network configuration error 8 from network device control. Tried using kppp also, and it appeared to get a connection, however resolver is not functioning, so no data transfer. The modem was successfully recognized during initial install and is listed on ttys4, however HW browser does not show any modems present. Has anyone tried using this on RH and had similar issues? I can't find a config error in my setup. Any info appreciated.

what does ifconfig -a show?
and what do u mean by ` resolver is not functioning`
if the error is that the network is not configured properly then it seems that u may not have entered the correct information when u have set up your connection
