if you are connected directly to the net { with your win2k} and with the same network card {eth0 in linux} there is one possible cause to your problem.
start your linux {kde} as root and go straight to network setting.{ this is done very well during installation} you must perform a complete static network setting.
print out your {first} IPADDRESS,GETWAY and your DNS ADDRESS, you can find these if you go to your window CONTROL PANEL, and to network right klick and chose properties and finally klick DETAILS to get all informations about your win2k LAN internet connection.
you must enter these data manually into linux network settings and make sure that disable auto DHCP at startup.
