Question RH 7.3 Networking Issues

Hi All,

For some odd reason, the powers that be decided that we have to use RH 7.3 for a particualar app deployment.

I have successfully configured a Dell 1750 with Broadcom 5700 ethernet NICs to work. I am having one problem though.

When I try to SSH to the box from a windows based client (putty in my case) I get connected, but after a few minutes (2 to 5) get disconnected. Infact if I leave the screen alone or keep on pounding the keys does not make one bit of difference. The end result is the same.

If I ssh into this same box from another linux box then the connection remains open for as long as I want. I am at a loss as to explain this behaviour. I do not see any error messages either. I have captured some of Putty ssh data in a log and it is not helpful either. I have it excerpted below if you need it.

Any and all help in identifying and fixing the problem is greatly appreciated. ThanX much for your help in advance.

- Regards.
- SM

you are for sure that the problem is your red hat box and that the problem is not @ your windows ?
or at your router or something cause this sounds indeed very odd.

Well, I am not sure where the problem lies exactly. It is the same Putty client that I use on Windows to connect to atleast 50 odd other linux and UNIX/AIX servers. I do not have any issues with them. This is the only instance where this odd behaviour is seen.

Please look at the excerpt below:

The last line makes me believe that some thing is not right with the linux box and it could be a very simple thing that I am missing.

Again thanQ for all your help.
