Resource Conflict - PCI Network controller in slot 02
 

Hi All,

Basically, I have an old Compaq Presario 2294 (AMD Athlon K6, 64MB PC100 SD RAM, 6GB Western Digital HD)
I have added a 128MB stick of PC133 SD RAM (for lack of finding PC100) and also have added 2 x Realtek RTL8139 Network cards.

I have fiddled around with the BIOS, looked for BIOS updates, searched forums, searched google to only find information on how to resolve IRQ conflicts within Windows.

I am in the middle of configuring IPCop onto it.
I know that IPCop is cut down heaps and probably doesn't have features like this, but I was hoping there would be some sort of way to do it either within IPCop or through BIOS updates (that I cannot find for the life of me)

How to fix this conflict is beyond me.

The BIOS updates/tools are now on the HP maintenance sites.
You probably have the original 8MB Compaq partition at the beginning of the disk, so drop the disk into another machine and have a close look.
It's not specifically required but was there for booting scsi and other Compaq specific hardware.

For testing, download a mini distro or a live CD and see what it says at boot..

yes, there was an 8mb partition at the beginning. I did a similar thing to wipe the HD. I grabbed my XP disk and used its fdisk utility to wipe the drive clean.
It didnt fix the resource conflict, so after a bit of googling, i swapped the 2 NIC's, and conflict went away.
