resolve.conf gets modified after network restart

Dear friends,

I have my resolv.conf properly configure to use my ISP's dns. But upon each service network restart, i realised the resolv.conf gets modified into my network's DNS. on top of the resolv.conf file, there lies a sentence stating

:generated by /sbin/dhclient-script

Everytime i encountered this problem, i see this sentence in resolv.conf....
for that reason, my DNS can never been configured problem...
anyone know what is the problem?

thanks for helping..

Regards
Y

Problem is: there is some technology that allows computer to learn it's IP address, gateway and DNS automatically (without administrator's intervention). It is called DHCP. dhclient is the standard name of program implementing client part. You can either shut the DHCP part down, or find /etc/rc.d/init.d/network or something like that, it shoould mention dhclient or dhclient-script, and add a line in the end that will overwrite /etc/resolv.conf with you hand-written.

A far easier way to fix that is to edit the /etc/sysconfig/network and add the line:

PEERDNS=no
