Remote desktop not working, Accessing XP machine via Ubuntu Hardy Heron

I cannot for the life of me access my remote desktop at work. My work machine runs Windows XP. I am running Ubuntu Hardy Heron at home. Now, I can remote desktop just fine if I use Vista on the same machine.

Basically, it will connect, and start painting the screen from the remote computer (SLOWLY). Then it will hang after half the screen is rendered. It stalls and never gets to the login screen.

I have a very good wireless LAN connection at home. However, the latency time was so maddening and jumpy that I went ahead and hard wired my home work computer.

I typically run apps such as Autocadd 2008 in conjunction with Excel at my office.

I've tried all the usual tricks, ie color depth, keyboard config, turning off all the effects, ie just a basic set. Still doesn't work. I've tried RDP and RDP5 (if memory serves) and no dice.

Thanks

I faced similar problems when I used tsclient.
When I used rdesktop everything seem to become normal. I never really looked into the matter.
See if this helps?!
