Remote desktop connection

Hi.
I''m a recent convert from the XP world.
In XP I would do a "remote desktop connection" from work to my pc running XP at home. Works well (a little slow though).
I now use Linux almost exclusively. I want to have the same access to my pc at home.

1) what is the best way to connect to my pc at home?
2) what is the easiest way to connect to my pc?
3) if I set something up should I worry about firewalls?
4) what is the meaning of life?

I don't expect an answer to #4 but if someone knows it?

At work: P4 1.8Ghz, 512Mb, Windowz XP Pro, ADSL connection

At home: Amd, 1.33Ghz, 512Mb, D-link NIC, High speed cable connection
Multiboot; Yoper OS (99% of my use), Knoppix, Win XP pro (i use XP only for Hi-Quality printing (Canon has crap support for Linux) and for DVD backup).

Thanks in advance.

I know this may have been discused in the past but I wanted a proper response for my situation and not have to read a gazillion posts to try to piece together a response. Plus opinions change, new programs come out and some get better or worse.
Thanks again.

Peace!

If you want a remote desktop, use VNC or TightVNC. If you just want a shell on your computer, run an ssh server.

You should always worry about firewalls : )

These will work on a Win XP machine (the one at work)?

I also have this question.
If I can not remote desktop my work XP box I will not be able to convert fully to linux.

Oh the meaning of life is........
