I have set up a Samba server on a RedHat ES 3.0 system and the server is working properly. My question is this.
What is the best way to remotely administrate this server from my Windows 2000 desktop for tasks such as making changes to User and Group information, charges to the smb.conf and then testing and then restarting the nmbd and smbd daemons.
The ability administrate the system (modify user information, change share information, etc) from my desktop and not have to get up and go into the computer room to do it directly from the server would be very helpful
I just downloaded putty and this it is a good command line option and will work for my purposes
but I was hoping for a more of a GUI enviroment. I am a bit of a newbie to Linux and comming from
a Windows enviroment have an eaiser time working in a GUI enviroment. I am running KDE on the
server and I think I actually like it better that Windows so if I remotely see my KDE desktop that would be great.

Run a VNC Server on your server and then use a windows VNC client like TightVNC to remotely control your Linux box.
look into x11 forwarding (i am not that big on it). so maybe someone else knows how to admin it. maybe starting a new thread would get some eyes on it...
