redhat7.3 doesn't recognize my netgear adapter (newbie)

Hello,
I recently installed redhat7.3 and it wasn't recognizing my dlink PCI nic. I then went and bought a netgear pci nic that said it was compatible with linux on the box.

Linux doesn't see it at all. When it comes to "Checking new hardware", no kudzu, nothing. It even recognized my WINMODEM but neither of the nics.

Any ideas? Thanks.

do you know what driver it requires? you might need to enable it from the kernel

There is a driver that came on the disk but linux doesn't even see that the network card is plugged in. I think the driver came as a .o module. There was a makefile in the folder though so it may have to be built.

I think I got errors when I tried installing the mod.
