Redhat 8 installation Problems,!!Unbelievable!!
 

I think i am good in linux.but.....

I want to install Redhat8.I boot from cd.Every thing is fine.but as the i go through the installation process,It askes me for the location of the linux installation source,And on top of that there is no CDROM option there!!.Only NFS,FTP and HTTP.
My cdrom detects in BIOS.Actually it is booting from CD.
i did linux text >>Enter
It goes through but after some steps it askes for the source location.I have never faced this before.I don't have other version of linux right now.Other wise can any one tell me a site so that i can do the ftp or HTTP installation from the internet.

RedHat 8.1 is about 4 or 5 years old... why would you want to run this thing? It is old, a real security hole and it's buggy.
It is possible the OLD kernel in that thing doesn't recognize your cdrom (especially if it is new... SATA maybe?) so it doesn't show you any option about your cdrom. You should try Fedora (the next-generation Red Hat) instead. In any case I doubt there is any site supportting RedHat 8.1 left .

Yeah, I'd bet that half of your problems can be traced to the fact that you're using an outdated distro that can't even name most of your newer hardware.

At the boot: prompt for the cd, type linux askmethod and select from the list.

If local CDROM isn't in the list, you have a custom install cd.

If that's the case, you'll need to download a newer version, which is going to be a far better option technically and securitywise..
There are servers with the distro files and the updates (at least until they were retired), but downloading those in preference to downloading a modern distro seems an interesting use of your time.. :)
